Four years ago, my partner and I moved from the city to live on a small farm (just over an acre) in the mountains of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. It's hard to believe it's already been so long, and yet it seems as though we've lived there forever.
What first struck us when we arrived, were the beautiful wildflowers that grow willy nilly throughout our yard and the surrounding woods.

The day we moved in, this little guy was waiting for us at the front door |
We were enchanted. Until, that is, the next month came and all our beautiful flowers died. Fortunately, a week later a new crop had sprung up.
By midsummer, even the old growth stumps were covered in foliage - this time delicious and healthy huckleberries.

Red Huckleberries - notice they've all been picked already :) |
By our second year, we had 3 goats, 30 ducks, 15 chickens, a goldendoodle, a standard poodle and enough garden to feed a family of four (despite the fact that there were only two of us). In year three, we built a greenhouse. This year, we've nearly doubled the total garden space using finished compost from our animals to furnish the soil. Yesterday while watering, I snapped a few photos.

We started new herbs in the greenhouse and transplanted to outdoor containers yesterday |

Oregano, the surprisingly useful herb. It's not just for Italian food anymore |
